IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harold Graham,
Jr.
June 25, 1936 – December 8, 2016
Mr. Harold Graham, Jr., after "Four-score Years," went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 8, 2016 from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
On June 25, 1936, in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, Harold and Ora Lee Graham celebrated the birth of their second child and only son, whom they named Harold Graham Jr.
In Fort Gibson Schools, Harold received his early education, but later continued school in Muskogee at Manual Training High School where he truly enjoyed basketball. On July 1, 1957, Harold married Mildred Marshall of Haynes, Oklahoma where they both reared their five children in Muskogee. Early in life, Harold worked as a trucker, overnight maintenance crew and even as a steer wrestler to provide for his family. Eventually, Harold worked for OG&E Energy Corp. beginning on August 31, 1978 and received full retirement on August 1, 1996.
In addition to raising his family, Harold truly enjoyed attending rodeos, attending dog and horse races with close friends, playing dominoes, watching sports, visiting Arnold's Fruit Stand daily to talk with friends, and even the laboring task of attending to his land and cows. In fact, Harold started a girls softball team for his granddaughter in Muskogee, where local girls in the community played for "Graham's Carpentry", a team sponsored by his nephews and often referred to him as "Coach Graham". Most importantly, Harold loved spending time with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The name "Uncle Jr." was placed on him by nieces and nephews who often relied on him for advice and additional laughter. In 1995, Harold and Mildred Graham ended their union; however, both remained great friends until her death occurring on January 30, 2008.
Harold truly enjoyed all that life had to offer. His great sense of humor, big heart and laughter will be sincerely missed by all. After 80 great years on this earth, Harold Graham Jr. passed peacefully on December 08, 2016. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, youngest sister Maggie "Big Mama" Simmons, and a very special nephew, Craig "Pop's" Graham.
Harold leaves to cherish his memory; his 5 children; Connie [Sherman] Hytche of Muskogee; Tracy [Sharon] Graham of Muskogee; Annette Bowler of Muskogee; Linda [Kerry] Burks of Tulsa; Phyllis Hill of Morris; 2 step children from marriage to Mildred Graham, include, Douglas [Dorine] Marshall of Tulsa and Deborah [Travis] Hytche of Muskogee; a granddaughter he reared as his own, Dianca Graham Finch of Washington, DC; his loving sister Juanita "Sis" Brown of Muskogee; his brother, Frederick Graham of Muskogee; 2 special nephews, Kevin Graham and Darryl Brown both of Muskogee; a special niece, Marchhell Cherry of Poteau and a very special cousin, Booker Blackmon of Muskogee; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, additional relatives and many great close friends.
The Final Hour with Mr. Graham will be on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. in the Timothy Baptist Church. Pastor Kelly Payne is the gracious host and Reverend Walter Brown, Jr., will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee. You may visit Mr. Graham, as he slumbers at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM.
