IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harvey Lee
Gordon, Jr.
July 18, 1945 – May 11, 2021
It all began in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on July 18, 1945, when Harvey L. Gordon, Sr., and Agnes E. [Pittman ] Gordon celebrated the birth of their third of four children born into the family. He was named after his father, Harvey Lee Gordon.
A lifelong resident of the City, Harvey attended the Oklahoma City Public School system and graduated from the Acclaimed Fredrick Douglas High School with the proud Class of 1963.
Affectionately referred to as "Clipper" by close friends and family, Harvey was well known and loved by many. His unique personality forged enduring bonds with all that had the privilege to get to know him and be around him. He was truly a loyal father figure, best friend and confidant to many.
His concern and compassion was evident through the service he rendered at the Oklahoma State Department of Health, retiring in 2016 as well as the many years he served his fellow people as a Funeral Home Attendant at McKay-Davis Mortuary, Inc.
Harvey was the loving husband of Lee Vonzetta [Cooper] Gordon and their love was blessed with three children; Carla Michale Gordon, Harvey Lee "Red" Gordon, III and Karen T. Gordon. He genuinely loved his family and would often boast of his grandchildren's accomplishments. He loved attending their basketball, softball and football games, graduation events and traveling to watch his grandson coach collegiate football across the country.
As God would have it, Harvey Lee Gordon, Jr., in his 75th year, and with his family by his side to witness, dozed into the tranquil peace of eternal slumber and awaits that "Great Gettin' up Morning!"
He was greeted in Glory at Heaven's gate by his Mother, Agnes, his father, Harvey Sr., and his son, Harvey III, as well as his ancestors before him.
Those that wait on the Lord: his best friend and devoted wife, Vonzetta; two daughters, Carla M. Gordon and Karen T. Davis [Cornelius], and his daughter-in-law, Cynthia E. Graham; ten grandchildren, Anthony J. "Toon" Gordon, Tynece L. Buggs-Tompson [Edward], Christian J. L. Smith [Brenna, Fiance'}, Anteala Davis, Aaron L. Gordon, Ariana J. Smith, Andrew J. Bradley, Coren L. Davis, Crimson L. Davis, Gabrielle Lenoir, and Cayren L. Davis. He also leaves his sisters, Patricia Wagner and Beverly J. Gilliam; his brothers, Michael T. Gordon and Dr. Lee E. Cooper, Jr. {Katherine]; his nieces, Lisa Wagner, Carol D. Robertson, Leslie Brown, Leiah Wiley Cooper and Kaci Craft; his nephews, Roger and Rodney Wagner, Lee E. Cooper, III, Derrick P. Cooper; along with eight great-grandchildren; and a caravan of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
