Obituary

The book of life was opened on Sept 4, 1922 in Atkins, Arkansas for a baby girl born to the union of Lueller and Andrew Burton.
She met and married Bennie Coleman in 1939 and to this union 4 children were born.

She was a proud mother that journeyed to Tulsa from Arkansas in 1942 to begin a new life for her and her children.

She professed a hope Christ under the leadership of Late Elder J. L. Alaman and united with the Page Memorial Church of God in Christ Tulsa, Ok; where she was a member of the Deaconess and the Missionary Society.

She begin her professional career as a private in home nursemaid for doctors and Lawyer which lasted for over 20yrs, while raising (4) children to become successful adults. She then later started working for Seismograph Corp. where she retired after 14yrs of service. Hattie (Mother) had a large amount of self-respect and proud that she gained as a youth, she just couldn't sit at home and do nothing. She started work as a school crossing guard for the next 11yrs. after leaving the crossing guard field; Mother was still unable to just sit at home. In her early 80's Mother decided to continue her education at the adult learning center, were  she learned to use a computer among other things. After finely retiring for good. She began volunteering at a Senior Life center until age of 83. In the mist of over 50 years of working, she was a dictated worker in her church, and she was able to babysit some of her grand, great grand, and great great grandchildren instilling Christian values in us all.

She was preceded in death by her loving Parents Lueller and Andrew Burton, 6 siblings, son Robert Lee Coleman and grandson Leroy Coleman Jr

Those left to cherish her precious memories.  Daughters Corine Matthews (Lester) of Tulsa, BettyAnn Templeton (Terry) of Morrilton, Ak, Sons Leroy Coleman of Tulsa and Bennie L Coleman (Linda) of Atlanta, GA., Sister Oliva Toles of Denver, CO.,  12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 24 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be Saturday June 2, 2018 at 11AM at Greater Grace Church in Tulsa.  Friends may visit Ms. Coleman on Friday from 1PM until 7PM in the Tulsa Chapel.
