Obituary

Haywood "Wood" Eugene Miller, Sr., in his 47th year, passed from this life on December 6, 2015 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

"Wood" was a loving husband, father, grandfather and son, residing in Colorado Springs area for the past 4 years after retiring from the United States Air Force from 24 years of honorable service.

Haywood was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on December 14, 1967. He graduated from Carter G. Woodson High School, where he excelled in academics as well as athletics.

Mr. Miller touched many hearts and lives throughout his lifetime. He knew how to make you laugh when you were down. He loved having his family and friends around him and was a diehard fan of the Oklahoma Sooners and the Dallas Cowboys. No matter how the score turned out, he stayed with them. He fussed, but didn't give up on them.

His military career allowed him to travel all over the world, including Iraq, Qatar, Kwait and Afghanastan. He was continuing his education at the University of Phoenix in Business Management.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Jean "Bootsie" [Whitfield] McConnell.

Those remaining to lament his death; his wife, TIffany; his children, Andrai Hill, Kourtney Miller, Haywood E. Miller, Jr., and a god-son, Cameron Barrett; five grandchildren; his father, Glenn Miller, Sr.; his siblings, John Witfield, Miguel Whitfield, Chandra Jones, Schawana Miller, Glenn Miller, Jr., Felicia Miller Allen, Heather Miller; along with a caravan of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Final Salute to Mr. Miller will be on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 600 North 6th Street. The Pastor, Reverend Gary Hall, will officiate. Burial will follow with Full Military Honors in the National Cemetery at Fort Gibson, Oklahoma at 2:00 P.M.

You may visit "Wood" as he slumbers in peaceaful repose at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 12 Noon until 7:00 PM.
