Helen (Wilson) Brown: eldest child, only daughter of the late Leroy L. Wilson, Sr. and Lois (Biglow) Wilson, both of Okmulgee, OK.
Helen was born in Okmulgee on June 11, 1945 but the family moved to Chicago, IL during her infancy. Thus, Helen was raised and educated in Chicago along with her two younger brothers, Leroy Jr. and Robert G.
Helen united in holy matrimony on July 18, 1964 to Sherman Brown. She accepted Christ at the tender age of eleven. She has been a devoted member of the following churches: New Progressive Missionary Baptist, Northwest Chapel, Pleasant Hill Baptist, Mt. Zion Baptist, King Solomon Baptist, and Jubilee Christian Center. She has faithfully discharged many roles in her various places of worship to include Pianist, Usher, Choir Member, Sunday School Teacher, Ordained Minister and even 1st Lady.
Helen was a woman of many talents and gifts. She attended Harlan High School, Cortes Peters School of Court Reporting, Australian Naturopathic School, and Rhema Bible Training College. In her lifetime, Helen held many positions to include Key Punch Operator for Rock Island Railroad & Zurich Insurance, Cafeteria & Food Service Manager for Preston Schools, Colon Therapist for Dr. Robert A. Woods, Colon Therapist and Intermediate Iridologist/Total Body Compression Massager for Dr. John W. Ray, Colon Therapist for S & H Body Mechanics, Clerk and Inspector for Oklahoma Election Board, and an Ordained Minister.
Helen was a devoted daughter, loving wife, steadfast mother, considerate sister, encouraging mother-in-law, compassionate grandmother, trusted relative, loyal friend and faithful leader. Helen always used the Bible as the ultimate resource for resolving life problems and trials. Helen was a mighty Christian warrior in a small package. She drifted into the peaceful slumber of eternal rest early Friday morning April 1, 2016.
She leaves to mourn her transition, her beloved mother, Lois (Wilson) Parker; loving husband, Reverend Sherman Brown; two children: Michelle (Carl), and Nathaniel; brothers Leroy Jr. (Toni) and Robert (Mona); granddaughters Kyrell Janaé and Kyra Janelle; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, cousins and friends.
The Celebratory Worship Service in memory of her life will commence on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the Jubilee Christian Center. The Christian Committal will follow the service in the Northwest Cemetery.
