Obituary

Mrs. Herlene A. Reed, in her 88th season, dozed into Eternity on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007 from Muskogee.

Born Herlene Arberta Broadway in Ft. Gibson, she was the daughter of Charlie and Mary [James] Broadway and the twin sister to Arlene. She and her twin often referred to each other as "their other half." They were called "Happy" and "Sister" by their family and close friends.

Herlene accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized into the Baptist Church.

She united in marriage to Lucian "Jack" Reed in 1941 in Muskogee. Together, they worked on the farm. She was a homemaker and a good mother to her eight children. In 1960, the Reed Family moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where they remained until 1973 before returning to Muskogee.

Happy was a very fitting name for Herlene because she loved to laugh and make others laugh. She loved to word find puzzles, watching game shows and playing domino's with her grandchildren.

She leaves to continue her beautiful legacy; five daughters, Nola & Rev. Edgar Pride Jr., Kathryn & Rick Coleman, Omaha, Nebraska, Tollie Starks, Las Vegas, NV, Joyce & Herman Blackmon, Muskogee, OK, Alice Berry, Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sons, Pleasant & Erma Reed, Omaha, Nebraska and Keith Reed, Muskogee, Oklahoma; her twin sister, Arlene Nero; her brother, Henry & Gladys Broadway, Omaha, Nebraska; along with a caravan of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

The farewell tribute will be on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in the St. Mark Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery. You may visit "Happy" as she slumbers at the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., on Wednesday from 12 Noon to 6 PM. Visitation on Thursday will be from 10:30 AM to service time only. The casket will not be opened at the end of the service.
