Herman H. Jimerson, Jr. was born April 15, 1947 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the first child and only son of Doris and the late Herman Jimerson, Sr. Butch attended Ralph J. Bunch Elementary School before transferring St. Monica Catholic School which he attended through the 8th grade. He attended Marian Anderson Junior High School and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in the illustrious class of 1966. Butch was an outgoing and popular student who developed and nurtured numerous friendships, many of which he managed up to the time of his death. He became known throughout the years as a loyal and trusted friend who would go out of his way to help others.
"Butch" as he was lovingly referred to, attended Langston University briefly, then enlisted in the United States Navy serving from 1967 to 1971. Following his Honorable Discharge, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service at the downtown Tulsa Office for 17 years until his retirement. Butch was an automobile and race car enthusiast and collected model cards. You could frequently find Butch at drag races at Tulsa Speedway.
Butch was a lifelong member of Paradise Baptist Church. He accepted Christ and was baptized under the Pastorate of the late Rev. J. Castina Jackson. As an adult, he re-dedicated his life to Christ and maintained his membership at Paradise, attending occasionally. Butch was married to the former Earlene Chaplin with whom he had two daughters.
Herman "Butch" Jimerson was called home by the Lord Tuesday July 12, 2016 after a lengthy illness. He was a loving and caring father, son, brother, grandfather, and friend. He leaves to cherish his precious memory, his mother, Doris Jimerson; daughters: DaNica Latreace Galbreath (Marco), Denise Lauren Jimerson and Keisha Marie Rider (Logan); three grandchildren: Marco Galbreath, Macaiah Jimerson and Macaila Jimerson, sisters: Sharon Leach (Leonard), Linda "Cookie" Seaberry and Carlye Jimerson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Butch also loved animals and leaves his beloved pet Nah-Tay.
Services for Mr. Herman H. Jimerson, Jr. will be Saturday July 16, 2016 at 11AM at Paradise Baptist Church in Tulsa.
Friends may visit Mr. Jimerson on Friday from 2PM until 7PM in Tulsa.
Interment will take place with Funeral Honors provided by the United States Navy will on Monday July 18, 2016.
