After "four-score" years, Herman Herbert Zanders made his transition peacefully from life to eternity on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 from Claremore Veterans Center, Claremore, Oklahoma.

Mr. Zanders was born on September 30, 1928 from the proud parents, Percy and Mittie Zanders.

He attended school in Okmulgee, Oklahoma and was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served his country for 22 years.

Herman was an active member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Okmulgee until his move to Claremore. He was a likeable and quiet individual with a great sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Alvin, Louis, William and Percy Zanders and also his second wife, Onita.

Those left to cherish his memory; his daughters, Norma Syas, Atlanta, Georgia, Denise Zanders, Chicago, Illinois, a granddaughter, Nachelle Thomas; a great-granddaughter, Tierra Thomas, both of Atlanta, Georgia; two nephews, Donald and Ronald Zanders; four nieces, Wanda Young, Gwen Zanders, Gail Jefferson and Sheila Goodrich; along with other relatives and friends.

We all loved him but God loved him best.

The Final Salute will be on Friday, December 12, 2008 in the Chapel of Peace at the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Okmulgee
