On February 17, 1941, a King was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He was born to Otis and Ehtel [Staton] Tuggle and they named him Hollis Tuggle. Affectionately known by his Great-grandmother Jant as "Nigg", later he was known by his family and friends as "Tug" and then "Papa."
Hollis received his academics from Okmulgee Public Schools. Upon completion of his high school education from the Historic Dunbar High School in 1959, he enlisted in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge from service to his country, Mr. Tuggle returned home to pursue a career in construction.
During his early years, Hollis married Ramona Vann and from this union, a child was born and they named her Hollinda.
Later, he met and married the love of his life, Alvestimogene [Jean] Harris and from this union, two children were born; Hollis Anthony and Tammy Kay. He also raised two children as his own, Caren [KayBaby] and Mia, whom he called Granny.
Mr. Tuggle was an active member of Cleaves Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church for most of his life, serving the Lord in various capacities within the Church.
In the evening of Saturday, April 17, 2021, Hollis' soul winged his flight from this world of sin, sorrow and pain to a place of eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his parents, great-grandmother, his daughter, Elaine Byrd, a brother, Otis Tuggle, Jr., and his sisters, Princella Mumford, Marcy Lee Majors, Ruby Parker and Helen Parker.
