Obituary

To love, be in the presence of, and know a strong, upstanding, GOD fearing honorable man is a precious gift from GOD. He speaks with wisdom, he walks with dignity, and he loves and protects his family. He is a servant warrior leader of high moral character. One of the most important things that a man can do is to live by this word. "Choose for yourselves today whom you will serve….As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" Joshua 24:15.

This passage reflects the life of Mr. Homer Milton Hanson!

Eighty-One Years Ago….Mr. Homer Milton Hanson graced his parents (Davie Lee Hanson Sr. and Rebecca Foreman Hanson) along with Okmulgee, Ok with his presence on February 29, 1936. His maternal grandparents were Viola (Barnett) Forman and Homer Forman; His paternal grandparents were Rebecca (Day) Hanson and John Hanson. Homer gave his life to Christ at an early age and as far back as he could remember he has always been a member of First Baptist Church.

Homer attended school in Okmulgee which included Banneker, Fort Elementary and was a graduate of Dunbar High School. After graduation he joined the United States Navy and concluded his naval career with an honorable discharge. Homer returned home from the Navy and married his High School Love, Lenora Franklin. They were united in marriage over (60) years. To this union were five children: Yvette, Mark, Yvonne, Milton, and Maurice.

Homer worked at Okmulgee People Bakery, OTASCO and retired from Ball Brothers Glass. Homer was known for his Baking, Cooking and his "World Famous BBQ", and let's not forgets his homemade "Chow-Chow". Homer always enjoyed working on cars and was good at fixing just about anything. Homer never met a stranger!!! He was kind to everyone and would do anything for you that he possible could. Homer was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and worked with the brotherhood, served as a trustee, drove the church van and joyously made sure that he was available for what ever was needed around the church until his health began to fail.

Homer carried himself with strength, dignity and always had a smile!!! He faced life without fear of the future, because he had a dynamic purpose to accomplish in serving the Lord!! On December 12, 2017 one of the gentlest giants was called to rest with the lord.

"Anyone can be a father, but it takes a real man to be a daddy." A GOOD FATHER makes all the difference in a child's life. He's a pillar of strength, support and discipline. His work is endless and, often times, thankless….Homer absolutely loved all of his children and grandchildren!
Homer's loving wife of sixty years Lenora Franklin Hanson along with both of his loving parents Davie Lee Hanson Sr. and Rebecca F. Hanson & one grandchild Dominique "Nikki" Hanson (Columbus OH), siblings Davie Lee Hanson Jr., Dwight Edward Hanson, & Eugene Hanson preceded him in death.

Homer leaves to honor his legacy one sister Nancy Fultz & one brother Pastor Lewis (Geneva) Hanson Sr. both of Okmulgee, Ok. Sister in law Caryl Taylor Hanson (Tulsa, Ok) Aunt in law aunt Roxanne Pierce, (Bessmer, AL) his brother in laws Herbert Franklin (Navato,CA), Leothy Franklin Jr. (Muskogee, OK), Lester W.
