"The Journey"

On May 22, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia, a bouncing, baby boy was delivered to George Washington Hill and Ollie Mae Nunley Hill. They named their bundle of joy, Horace Lee.

At the age of 9, Horace's family moved to Columbus, Ohio. He was baptized and became a member of Mount Herman Baptist Church. Mr. Hill received his education in Columbus from Garfield Elementary, Everett Junior High School and Central High School. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy on May 23, 1946, serving his country honorably and receiving his discharge on March 23, 1948.

Mr. Hill worked various jobs before settling in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 9162, when he became an employee of Rockwell and Sheffield Steel, where he remained until his retirement in 1993.

Horace and Dorothy Kendricks Hill united with Friendship Church in the summer of 1978 under the Pastorship of the late Reverend L. L. Tisdale, where he sang with the Brotherhood and enjoyed the leadership of his present Pastor, Reverend Weldon Tisdale, Sr. He served the Lord faithfully until the time of his illness. "With his journey complete," Horace Lee Hill, after 79 seasons, entered into peaceful, eternal rest with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 6, 2009.
