Obituary

Mrs. Ida M. Brown, in her 80th year, passed from life to everlasting on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 from her home in Muskogee.

On January 4, 1940, in Springer, Oklahoma, a baby girl was born to John and Mary McGee. She
was given the name Ida Mazella McGee. Ida was the third of eight children. The family moved to
Texas and later settled in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Ida graduated from Historical Manual Training
High School and then worked as a superviser at Funsten Nut Company for over ten years, later
retiring from the company.

Ida met her soulmate in 1953 and they were married on May 23, 1958; they made their home
in Muskogee, Oklahoma. From this union, four children were born: a daughter, Ida, son, James
Jr., and twin daughter and son, Paula and Paul; later, they welcomed Damon into their loving
family. Ida and James were married for 55 years until his death in 2013. Affectionately known by
her family as "Nanny" she was a loving and caring woman to all that meet her. Everyone loved
Nanny's turkey and dressin' and mac and cheese. Related to her or not, she loved you just the same.
Nanny would voice her opinion and speak her mind, doing so with gentle kindness. She had a heart
of gold and would help anyone who needed a hand. She enjoyed being with her family, especially
her great-grandchildren.

Nanny lost her short battle to cancer and closed her eyes forever in eternal sleep surrounded by
her family. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband, James; son, James
Jr.; granddaughter, Nicole Warren; sisters, Opaline Sheley and Helen Epps, Sylvia; brother-in-law,
Curtis Black; brother, Willie; sisters-in-law, George McGee, Louisa McGee, Lorene Brown, and
Betty Shaw; brother-in-law, Paul Brown; and nephews, Timothy McGee and Darrell Epps.
Ida is survived by: her children, Ida and Robert Warren, Sr., Paula and Stacy McGee, Paul and
Laura Brown, and Damon Escoe; grandchildren, Kenesha Brown, James Allen, Jennifer Weaver,
Robert Warren, Jr., and Amber and Markeus Moore; great-grandchildren, Lonnie Jackson, Jr.,
