Obituary

On February 7, 1937, a baby boy was born to the late Reverend E.V. and Ellar Mae [Blackmon] Brown in the Four Mile Community of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. He was the ninth child born from this loving union. They named their new son Irvin, after his Uncle, Bishop Irvin Brown.

He grew up in the Four Mile Branch community, where he began his education, before later moving to Muskogee, Oklahoma with his family. While still at an impressionable age, he united with the Cannon Baptist Church, under the Pastoral guidance of his father. Later in life, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he met his wife, Patricia Weeks in 1962. Three children were born from this union.

Irvin was employed for over 30 years for Coca Cola as a fork lift driver. He worked weekends at Muskogee Country Club as a caddy and also provided for his family by doing private yard work around the Muskogee Community. Mr. Brown also served in the United States Army Reserve in 1965.

His hobbies including working in his garden and trying his hand at playing golf. He loved to hunt to help feed his family and was a good and kind person. Whenever there were family gatherings, before he would leave, he would say to them "I'm going to do somethe the devils never done" and when asked what, he would say "I'm gonna leave you!"
