Mrs. Izenatta Nita Jackson, after "Fourscore and Five Years," went to be with the Lord on Monday evening, February 8, 2016 from Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Izenatta Nita Porter was born in Howe, Texas on June 30, 1930 from the union of William Porter and Lucile Upshaw Porter. She attended the Denison Public Schools in Texas.
Izenatta married Knolah Jackson in 1949 and she was the mother of eight children. Izenatta was a member of Canaan Baptist Church in Muskogee, where she devoted her time to the Choir, Mission Board, and Ushering. She loved playing on the piano, organ, and autoharp to help in serving the Lord.
At the age of 55, Izenatta changed her membership to the First Baptist Church of Muskogee and became involved in the Keenager social group, was the leader of the Sunday school outreach, helped prepare snacks for the Fall Creek youth camp, attended senior adult coed class, and was faithful to the senior Intercessory Prayer Ministry. Izenatta remained there until going under nursing care in 2013.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and four brothers. Also three children preceded her in death, David Jackson- 1953, Barbara Gail Jackson- 1958, and Shirley Ann Jackson- 1993.
Izenatta's children still keeping her memory flowing: James Porter (Patricia)- Oklahoma City, OK; Knolah Jackson Jr.- Eufaula, OK; Betty Toney (Glenn)- Dallas, TX, Nathaniel Jackson (Kathy)- Georgetown, TX, and Ida Jackson, Oklahoma City, OK; and her husband Knolah Jackson Sr.- Muskogee, OK; Also, 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The Sacred Farewell for Mrs. Jackson will be held on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. in the First Baptist Church Chapel, 7th & Okmulgee.
Burial will follow in the National Cemetery at Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
