Obituary

Mr. Jack Henry Jackson, after 101 years with us, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday evening, May 20, 2015 from Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Mr. Jack Henry Jackson was born on August 14, 1913 to John Henry and Elizabeth Jackson in the township of Sutton. Jack joined Church at an early age and completed 8 years of education.

At the age of 29, Jack was drafted by the U.S. Army and in the early part of 1942, was sent to the South Pacific. Jack served three years, ten months and five days much of which was spent on guard duty for an Air Base in the Philippines.

After the war, Jack returned to Haskell and began raising cotton and corn on forty acres.

1958 was a big year for Jack. He married the Love of his life, Evelyn Chaplin, and he was also ordained Deacon of Cloud Creek Baptist Church. Jack later moved his membership to Wilson Chapel Baptist Church, Haskell, Oklahoma, where he served faithfully until his health began to fail.

Jack worked construction for a few years and later became employed at the Mental Health Hospital in Taft, Oklahoma. Jack heard about the Foster Grandparent program and begin working at Oklahoma Children's Center in Taft, Oklahoma and he later transferred to the Boynton Public Schools working with several teachers and making a lasting impression on children for twenty-six years, retiring at the age of 90.

Another big year in Jack's life was on August 10, 2013 when he celebrated his 100th birthday during that celebration Jack was interviewed by Oklahoma State University Oral History Research Program and when asked "What do you want people to remember about you? His reply "That I have lived 100 years by treating people right. That's #1." "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

Jack leaves to cherish his memories and legacy a loving and devoted wife of 56 years Evelyn Jackson, Muskogee, Ok, 5 daughters Rose(Leonard) Walker, Boynton, Ok; Mildred(Edward) Robertson; Jacqueline Jackson, Little Elm, TX; Sandra (Edwin) Adkins, Muskogee, Ok; Sharla (Olatheaus) McDaniel Jr., Muskogee, Ok 3 sons, Christopher Jackson Sr., Haskell, Ok; Rommel (Cynthia) Jackson, Muskogee, Ok; Rodrick (Angela) Jackson, Boynton, Ok; nineteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, eighteen great-great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces and family members and friends. He is preceded in death by on daughter Dimples.

The Final Salute will be given on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. in the Rayfield Baptist Church 701 Indianapolis Avenue. Reverend Leroy Walker, Sr., Pastor, will officiate.

Burial will follow at 12 Noon in the National Cemetery at Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
