Buchanan, Sr.
December 27, 1962 – February 28, 2022
On the 27th day of December 1962, God blessed Jesse and Cora Buchanan with a healthy baby boy, whom the named James Lewis, he was the 11th child born of this union.
Early in life James accepted Christ in his heart, and was baptized at St Mark Baptist Church, under the pastorship of Rev. Theodore Hickerson.
Growing up as a child he would play rough and liked to box his brothers, so they nicknamed him "Bruiser". He attended Muskogee Public Schools and graduated from Job Corps, in San Marcos, Texas. Where he learned his trade in carpentry. James was employed with Corning Glass for three years. James had a loving and kind spirit and a big heart. He loved his family and friends. He always had a smile on his face and he never met a stranger. James had many friends and several nicknames.
James is preceded in death by his son James Jr., his father, mother and three brothers, Jesse Jr, Theodore, John and two nephews Donnell and Stacey.
James leaves to cherish his lovely memories, two daughters Amanda Johnson and Aarontasia McGee, son Michael Johnson Sr. brothers Joseph, Dwayne (Ruby), Glen (Joyce), sisters Geraldine (Eddie), Edna (Gerald), Sharon, Charlotte, Josephine, sister in laws, Naomi and Brenda, uncle William Hardridge, aunt Christine, Marie Collins, Fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, long time childhood friend Shawn Cade.
Mr. James Lewis Buchanan, Sr., peacefully slipped into Life Everlasting on Monday, February 28, 2022 in Muskogee Oklahoma.
The Hour of Remembrance for Mr. Buchanan will commence on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the most holy sanctuary of St. Mark Baptist Church, where Reverend Rodger L.B. Cutler is the gracious host and Reverend David Ragsdale will render the eulogy.
You may visit Mr. Buchanan, as he slumbers in peaceful repose at the funeral home on Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
Burial will immediately follow the services at New Hope Cemetery in Oktaha.
