Soldiers Salute…………Mr. James Burrell Sr.
On December 18, 1933, Louis and Emma Burrell welcomed James Isaac Burrell, one of five children in Tulsa, Ok. He was a proud graduate of the one and only Booker T. Washington High School class of 1951. He served in the army and shortly after met the love of his life. They married December 30, 1960. To this union five children were loved: Madelyn, James Jr, Rip, and twins Malcolm and Melody. He was employed greater than 30 years at St. John Medical Center. He was an avid fisherman and sports enthusiast. He enjoyed travel and watched a nature show every Sunday with his family. He was a wonderfully committed husband, father, and grandfather. James was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Estelle Burrell, his son Rip Burrell, and twins Melody Burrell-Watson and Malcolm Ray Burrell. His sisters, Erma Farley and Gladys Hunt, and brother Louis Jr. James leaves to cherish his children, Madelyn Burrell-Andrews, and James Burrell Jr and siblings, Robert Burrell Sr and Lois Gilkey, eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
You may visit Mr. Burrell as he slumbers on Thursday, May 11, 2017 between the hours of 1-7PM at our Tulsa Chapel.
