Always fun loving and loving life, James Eugene Dawson, Sr., better known as "Poochie" was born on February 9, 1970 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Theodore and Grace M. Davis, Jr.
James attended school in Kansas City, Missouri. He accepted Christ at an early age, while becoming a member of Christ Temple Pentecostal Church there. Later in life, James moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma, where he became a member of Faith Deliverance Christian Center.
In Oklahoma, James worked for over 10 years at Muskogee Marble and Granite Company for Weldon Keys and was cherished by all of his co-workers. He provided service over a 4 state region, providing monument setting service for over 30 funeral homes in those areas.
James Eugene Dawson, Sr., in his 39th year, left this life for a life eternal, suddenly on Thursday morning, June 18, 2009 from Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters, Janae Montgomery and Angela Davis.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his grandfather, Thurman McIntosh, Muskogee, Oklahoma; the love of his life and the son he asked God for, James Eugene Dawson, Jr.; his step-children, Jordon, T'Keira and Kevontae Smith and their mother, Teresa Maxwell, all of Muskogee, Oklahoma; his step-children, Glennetta and Don Mayes, Damita Craig and grandchildren, Destiny, Dynasty and Markell, all of Muskogee; his step-mother, Mary L. Davis, Kansas City, Missouri; his brothers, Theodore and Ellen Davis, III, Kansas City, Missouri, Timothy W. and Deborah Davis, Atlanta, Georgia; his sisters, Shirley Calvert, Kim and Hansel Gordon, Cynthia Montgomery, Sharon and Melvin Phillips, Tina Jackson and Stacie and Theopolis Dawson, all of Kansas City, Missouri; and a caravan of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends, as well as his co-workers.
The Final Tribute will be on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. in the Loving Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Reverend Gary Hall, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee.
