Obituary

On February 16, 1955, a precious baby boy was born; his parents were Vernon "Bo" and Loretta Davis. He was named James Earl. When he was a young boy, James Earl and the Davis cousins would spend the summer at Grandma and Grandpa Davis' house in Summit, Oklahoma. James was energetic, but he was also mischievous. He and our cousin, Ken, were thick as thieves, and if we got into trouble, Grandma Davis would say "those two (James Earl and Ken) are the ring leaders." James Earl was a handsome young man and charming, especially when he would flash his smile showing off his dimples.

James Earl matriculated through the school systems in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and after high school, he chose to enter the military and serve our country. One of our uncles, Fred Davis, was in the military. Uncle Fred was wounded and received the prestigious purple heart medal for his bravery. The Davis family was proud of Uncle Fred, and James Earl would be fascinated listening to Uncle Fred's stories of the war. James Earl would often visit family in Muskogee and Summit, Oklahoma, and at some point moved to Muskogee.

He married Brenda Allen Davis, and to this union, two children completed this family, son, Gary, and daughter, Monique. James Earl also had another son, Jason.

On August 4, 2022, James Earl transitioned to eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his parents, father, Vernon (Bo), and mother, Loretta; wife, Brenda Allen Davis; and a son, Gary.

He leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, Monique Davis and Cherelle Wheat; one son, Jason Jackson; his brother and sisters,  Jessie, Tanisha, Theresa, and Laverne; grandchildren, Brianna Davis, Lyiona Davis, and Ja'Kobe Davis; first cousins, Sam Davis, Sr., Reverend Mark Davis, Rhonda Davis-Parish, Debara Davis, Virilyaih Davis-Scroggins, Eva Elaine (Johnson) Wartson, Clarence Johnson, Doretha "Tiny" (Kenneth "Red") Russell; and special mention, Ken Evans, Dayna (Jamaal) Dennis, Sam Davis, Jr., and Edie McJunkins.

Service of Memory to reflect upon the life of James Earl Davis will commence on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 12:00 PM in the Muskogee Chapel.
