IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Littlejohn,
Jr.
August 2, 1940 – August 4, 2017
As a young man he moved to Tulsa with his family, where he graduated from Booker T. Washington High School with the Class of 1960. James was very adventurous and wore many hats during his lifetime.
James enlisted into the United States Army, where he received many honors and medals for defending his country during the Vietnam War. He was decorated with the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service with 4 Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Expert Infantry Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, Army Commendation Medal; Good Conduct Medal Clasp, Bronze 4 Loops, Drill Sergeant Badge and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry/Palm. After 21 years of services, James retired from his military service on June 1, 1980. James was a very proud soldier and if you walked into his home, his honors are hung for all to view. After retiring from the Military, James worked as a Security Officer for Hillcrest Hospital and Jailer in Okmulgee, where he also ministered to many prisoners during that time.
James united in holy matrimony to Cora Lee Morgan on September 18, 1982. James was a loving husband, father, pawpaw, brother, uncle and friend.
James was called to teach and preach the word of the God. James was a faithful member of Saint Matthew's Missionary Baptist Church, and there, he was a member of the distinguished Brotherhood (Singers). Being in the Brotherhood allowed Minister Littlejohn to use his voice to praise God with songs. He was also one of the Associate Pastors at St. Matthews Baptist Church. Every time Minister Littlejohn would be in the pulpit, he had a few favorite quotes(nuggets as he called them) he would repeat; He would say "I am not sinless, but I do sin less." or "you're no more a Christian by just sitting in church, just like you can't become a car by sitting in a garage." He always had a joke in his quotes that he wanted to share during Sunday school, Bible Study or anytime.
James was preceded in death by his parents James (Jim) and Rosie Littlejohn brothers Carl, Fleix, Dennis and David; sisters Florence, Christine, James Ella, Augustine, Mary Frances, Shirley and Lavada.
He leaves in God's care; his loving wife, Cora Lee Littlejohn, of the home; his sons Michael (Earnestine) Littlejohn, Cedar Hill, Texas, Jimmy James Littlejohn, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Emmett H. (Terry) Perkins, Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Rickey (Phyllis) Perkins, Glenpool, Oklahoma, Ray Steven (Seandra) Crook, Wichita, Kansas and John Littlejohn, Okmulgee, Oklahoma; his only loving daughter whom he cherished, Tracy Thompson, Aubrey, Texas; his Sisters, Marguerite Rice, Wichita, Kansas, Juanita Garrett, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Octavia Love, Tulsa, Oklahoma; 9 Grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a caravan of loving family and friends.
