Seventy-seven years ago, a baby boy was born in Arkansas, near Wabbaseka from the union of John D. and Gladys [Dunlap] Logan. They named him James A. Logan.
At an early age, James gave his life to Christ at Chapel Grove Baptist Church in Wabbaseka, Arkansas. Later in life, he joined New Balm Outreach Ministries in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He married the former Lois Freeman on August 28, 1968 and they remained married until her death.
During his lifetime, he worked as a farmer and was also a truck driver. He loved caring for his kids as well as kids that weren't even his. Whenever he would come to your house, and you hesitated answering the door, he would blow the horn on his truck until you'd answer the door-then drive off with that trademark "left arm" hanging out the window, while bad mouthing you. Equally, whenever you see traffic held up, you knew it was Mr. Logan driving slow around Muskogee; police and all blowing the horn. If you didn't pass the drivers test the first try, you will get the bad mouth as well from him. That was Mr. Logan for you.
Even in sadness, those memories will help although he will be missed. Rest in peace, James A. Logan. He made his transition from "Earth to Everlasting" on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mr. Logan was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, his parents, John and Gladys Logan, his brother, Sam Logan, his sister, Mary Allen, two sons, James Logan, Jr., and John Logan and his grandchildren, Willie Hays, Keyonna Logan and Ja'cion Logan Ragsdale.
He leaves in God's care; his children, Lois Jean [Louis] Scott, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Quinetta Logan-McDougle [Isaac Thomas], Shirley [Vernon] Scott, Muskogee, Oklahoma, Sandra [Jimmy] Cooper, Muskogee, Oklahoma, Tony [Martine] Freeman, Conway, Arkansas, Willie Logan, Muskogee, Oklahoma Ben Carter, Pine Bluff, Arkansas and Stevie Logan, Texarkana, Arkansas; his sister, Ruby Lesure, St. Louis, Missouri; 53 grandchildren; 104 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren; along with a caravan of other relatives and friends.
Service of Memory for Mr. Logan will commence on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Antioch Church of Muskogee. Pastor Marlon J. Coleman is the gracious host and Minister Everett Lang and Minister Antonio "Janay" Smith, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee.
