Mr. James A. Logan, age 48 and a resident of Muskogee, transitioned from this life on Thursday, March 6, 2008 in Independence, Kansas.
On the morning of September 8, 1959, at precisely 11:45 A.M., James and Annie Mae welcomed their first child into the world. James Arlanda Logan, Jr., was born in Altheimer, Arkansas. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized.
"June Bug," as he was affectionately called, was educated in the Altheimer Public School System. He had a love for life and for his family.
He is fondly remembered doing his favorit dance, "The She-Devil" to his favorite son, "Big Lou."
In the summer of 1980, "June Bug" met the love of his life. Through ups and downs, good and bad, they remained together for 27 years. From this union, two children were born.
He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Lois Logan and a brother, John E. Logan, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory; his parents, James A. Logan, Sr., Muskogee, Oklahoma and Annie Mae Swagger-Harris, Little Rock, Arkansas; his longtime companion, Lillie Hayes-Logan, Independence, Kansas; ten children, Felicia Smith [Lee], Muskogee, Oklahoma, Quionna Obecina [Deotis],Nikita Smith, James A. Logan, II [Antoinece], John Logan, Maruice Logan, all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Willie J. Hayes-Logan [Keisha],Stevie Logan and Ricky Martin, all of Independence, Kansas and Mario Benjamin, Wichita, Kansas; 23 grandchildren; his siblings, Lois J. Logan-Scott [Lewis], Quinetta I. Logan-McDougle [Isaac], all of Milwaukee, Oklahoma, Shirley A. Logan-Scott [Vernon], Tony L. Freeman [Barbra], Willie J. Logan [April], Sandra Logan-Cooper[Jimmy] and Darrell "Swag" Johnson, all of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Benny D. Freeman [Kia], Kansas City, Missouri, Stevie D. Logan [Angie], Owatta, Kansas and Elisa M. Johnson, Pine Bluff, Arkansas; along with a caravan of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The final hour will be on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in the St. Mark Baptist Church. Rev. Anthony L. Scott, Sr., will officiate. Burial will follow in Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee.
