James Earl Mayfield, Sr., after 55 seasons, surrendered his soul on Friday, December 26, 2008 from Okmulgee. He was the12th child born from the union of Henry and Eva Mayfield on March 3, 1953 near Bald Hill, in Okmulgee County.
James accepted Christ at an early age, uniting with the Morris Chapel Baptist Church, which is now Harris Chapel Baptist Church. He worked in the Construction Industry during his life before becoming disabled.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sisters.
Those that remain to lament his passing; a very special friend, Larzetta Grant; 2 sons, Keith & D'Nitra Mayfield, Sr, and James & Shanice Mayfield, Jr., all of Okmulgee; a daughter, Kimberly & Marcus Jeffrey, Okmulgee; his grandchildren, KeJuan Montgomery, Keith Mayfield, Jr., Kristopher Mayfield, Gartesia Jordan, Jayla Mayfield, D'Ontre' Gresham, Jaylon Mayfield, K'Nitra Mayfield, Jayson Mayfield, Marcus A.C. Jeffrey, LaToyia Ross, all of Okmulgee and I'eshia Jeffrey, Richmond, VA; 3 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Dorothy Durant, Seattle, WA, Martha Lee Kendricks, Wichita, KS; a special sister, Geralene Ross "Polly, Wichita, KS, Genny Smith, Tulsa, OK, Rose Draper, Thetta Johnson, Mildred Mayfield, all of Haskell, OK; his brothers, Arvin Mayfield, Haskell, OK, Lewis Mayfield, Boynton, OK and Lonnie Mayfield, Bald Hill, OK; along with a caravan of other relatives and friends.
The Farewell will be on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in the Macedonia Baptist Church. Rev. Judson Fields, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Northwest Cemetery. You may visit Mr. Mayfield, as he slumbers in peaceful repose at the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., on Friday from 12 Noon to 6 PM.
