James William Nevils was born September 18, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri to James C. Nevils and Elizabeth Frison. James was preceded in death by three brothers J. Merrill Whitelaw (Edra); Bruce Nevils (Gwyn); Samuel Nevils (Lana); one nephew David Nevils; One son Clint Johnson.
James attended Sinai and Timions Elementary School in Bonner Springs, KS. He attended Junior High and High School in Bonner Springs, KS as well. He attended Kansas University in Kansas and majored in journalism. He joined the air force February 5, 1970. James worked at Thomas-Haywood Chemical in Kanas City, MO, and was assistnt Manager at Lee Men Clothing, Kansas City, MO.
James got his license to preach under Rev. Mosley, Pastor of 12th St. Church Coffeyville, KS. James loved playing and watching baseball, basketball, fishing, and reading. James attending New Beginnings Family Church under the leadership of Pastor Steven Griffin, Bartlesville, OK.
James was a member of Miracle Temple COGIC under the leadership of Lowell Nash, Bartlesville, OK.
James leaves his wife Nicketa Nevils of Bartlesville, OK; one Son James (Jimmy) Nevils Jr.(Niquita) of Kansas City, MO; daughters Myrisha Nevils of Bartlesville, OK; Nicole Johnson of Wichta, KS, Leann Nevils of Valley Center, KS, Frances Nevils of Wichita, KS; one brother David Nevils (Avis) of Kansas City, KS; two sisters, Gwendolyn Martin (West) of Kansas City, KS;
Jamesetta McDonald (Marvin) Kansas City, KS. James leaves a host of nephews and nieces.
Thessalonians 4:13-16
13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead will rise first.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 11AM Miracle Temple COGIC 1400 SW Adams Blvd, Bartlesville, OK 74003. The burial of his precious remains will be on Monday, August 19, 2019 at 1PM at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
