Obituary

James Willie Westbrook passed from this life on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 in Checotah, Oklahoma. He was born on September 3, 1964 in Pierce, Oklahoma, the son of Carl and Pearlie Mae (Jimerson) Westbrook.
James and the family moved to Checotah when he was still a young child. He earned his nickname "Dirty Red" and it truly stuck with him throughout his life. He attended Checotah Public Schools and graduated from Checotah High School with the class of 1982. James later met and married Paula Chapman on August 7, 1995. This marriage was later dissolved.
He moved to Georgia in 1998, where he worked as an electrician. His health began to fail during his time in Georgia which led to James moving back to Oklahoma in 2005.
James enjoyed listening to music (particularly Al Green), watching television, and he was a great chess player. He lived life on his own terms and always spoke what was on his mind with no filter whatsoever. James had a heart of gold and was deeply loved by his family and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ralph Jimerson, Donald Jimerson, Anthony Jimerson, Carl Westbrook Jr., Lonnie Green, and sisters Patrice Westbrook and Carletta Westbrook. He is survived by his children Jaynel Westbrook, Quinton Moore, Nicole Brinsfield and husband Joshua, Ryan Westbrook and wife Desiree; his grandchildren Zion Nichols, Trinity Brinsfield, Cierra Brinsfield, Keenan Brinsfield, Regan Westbrook and Reighn Westbrook; his brothers Rodney Moffett and Michael Mack; his sisters Carolyn VanHook, Sharon Crabtree, Glenda Nash, Connie Nash, Andretta Ballard, and Brenda Oliver; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a lifetime of friends.
The final hour with "Dirty Red" will commence on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Checotah, Oklahoma.  Reverend Sanford Nero, Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church of Huttonville, will officiate.
