Obituary

Mr. James Demery, Sr., age 56 and a resident of Beggs, Oklahoma, left this life for a life eternal on Saturday, August 16, 2008 from Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Death is just a natural thing, like the closing of a door, as we start upon a journey to a new and distant shore. So let your grief be softened and yield not to despair. James, our father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend, has been placed in the loving Father's care. Life on Earth is a transient affair, just a few brief years in which to prepare for a life that is free from pain and tears, where time is not counted in hours, minutes or years.

It all began on January 4, 1952, when Albert and Ruby Demery were blessed with a beautiful baby boy. He was the 11th child of 13 born to this union. They named the Demery 11th, James. He attended Wheatley School and went on to graduate from Beggs High School with the class of 1970. He also played football while in school. After graduating he served in the National Guard Military. He bettered his education by going to OST, now called Oklahoma State University Technical School, in Okmulgee where he received his degree in electronics. James enjoyed riding motor cycles and especially loved fishing as a sport. He also played semi-pro football with the Tulsa Knights. He also labored with Public Service Electronic Company in Tulsa, and later joined the Tulsa Fire Department, where we would retire from. Mr. James Alfred Demery, SR. made his Transition on August 16, 2008 in Tulsa.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory: his 3 children James, Jr. (LaVonda) Tulsa, OK. Tracy (Martin) Beggs, OK., William, Muskogee, OK., grandchildren: Princess, Taylor, Tra, Lexus, Victoria, Melicia, and More, a very loving and devoted friend Alice Rawton, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 5 brothers: Elmer Demery, Tulsa, OK., Clarence Demery (Linda), Preston, OK., Reginald Demery, Beggs, OK., Freeman Demery, Oakland, California, Vertis Demery, Laredo, AR., 5 sisters: Velma Taylor (Isaiah) Beggs, OK., Alma Young (Alfonzo), Tulsa, OK., Dorothy Walker (Ervin), Tulsa, OK., Stella McCall (Clyde), Beggs, OK., Teresa Smallwood (Robert), Beggs, OK., along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends.

Services for Mr. Demery will be Saturday August 23, 2008 at 10AM at First Baptist Church South in Beggs. Visitation will be Friday from 12Noon to 6PM at Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc. in Okmulgee.
