Jamon E. Smith, Jr.
Jamon Ezell Sims, Jr., was a gift from God given to Gladys Sims (Hill) and Jamon E. Sims, Sr., in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Jamon matriculated through the school systems in Muskogee, OK. Attending Langston Elementary, Sadler Junior High and then graduating from Manual Training
High School in 1957.
In 1957, he married Juanita Grayson and to this union a baby girl was born, whom they named Shelia Faye. At the age of 19, Jamon enlisted into the United States Air Force in November of 1957. He faithfully served his country and was Honorably Discharged in July of 1961. After leaving the United State Air Force, Jamon moved to Chicago, Illinois and Indiana to be with family for many years, before moving back to Muskogee.
He was employed with Fort Howard and continued working there until he retired. Jamon loved going to church; he continued up until his health started to decline. He was known to enjoy sitting outside of his home, talking to his friends, and watching neighbors pass by. Jamon thoroughly
enjoyed talking to all his grandchildren. He will truly be missed.
Mr. Jamon Ezell Sims, Jr., "after Four-score and Four Years" transitioned to Eternal Rest on Thursday evening, February 23, 2023, in Muskogee,
Oklahoma.
Those who preceded him in death are: his parents Jamon Sims, Sr., and Gladys Sims; one brother; two wives; four aunts; his paternal grandparents Eugene Sims and Fannie Williams; his maternal grandparents Archie Hill and Madge Abrams.
He leaves to cherish his memory: three daughters, Sheila F. Chandler of Pflugerville, Texas, Andrea Renee (Everett) Nelson of Sherman, Texas and
Quana (Michael) Young of Rowlett, Texas; six grandchildren, Tawanisha Kinnison of Killeen, Texas, Shelyne (Dennis) Mitchell and George Chandler of Pflugerville, Texas, Miles Young of Humble, Texas, Donte Johnson of Nashville, Texas and Dominique McCoy of Mckinney, Texas; seventeen great grandchildren, seventeen great great grandchildren; one sister Valena Sims-Sanders of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; one aunt Missionary Margo Frazier of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; one nephew Derwin Sims of Denver, Colorado; two special friends; one sister-in-law Diane Pazuchanics Sims of Arvada, Colorado and a host of cousins and friends.
The Final Salute for Mr. Sims will commence on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 10:30 AM in the most holy sanctuary of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where Reverend Joshua Mitchell will preside.
You may visit Jamon, as he slumbers in peaceful repose in the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Muskogee on Thursday, between the hours of 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
The Christian Committal and Military Honors will immediately follow the services in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
