Jane Karolyn Bowen Givens was born December 31,1956, the daughter of Minnie Mae Warren-Jiles and Arthur Bowen in Denver, CO.  She was the baby of five children.

Jane graduate d from Muskogee High School in 197 5 .  She was raised by her Mother until her death when Jane was 10 years old .  Jane was then raised by her Grandparents Edward and Bertha Warren.

She married her high school sweethear t, Clarence (Joe) Givens in 1974 and into that union they had a son , Taylor Jerome.

Jane later had two daughter s, Bria C harese and Shyla Danean , which brought her lovely family to three children.

Jane worked for several years as cosmetics consultant at Dillards Department Stor e , where she perfected her art of doing makeup, and later as a receptionist for Dr. Alfred Last until her illness.

Jane was known for her infectious laughter and her ability to have no one feel like a stranger when they meet. Jane loved to have family come together where she can show off her wonderful cooking skills.  Spending time with her grandchildren and great-neices and nephews brought Jane great joy. Jane also got great joy out of the Christmas holidays spoiling her grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Jane is prece ded in death by her Mother Minnie Mae, Father Arthur Bowen, Grandparents Edward and Bertha Warren. Mother in-Law Lillian B Givens, Father in-Law Clarence Givens, Cousin Joyce Taylor , Aunts Kathlyn Edwi na, Alice, and Cheryl and her Uncles Clarence and John.

She leave s to cherish her memory her children Taylor Jerome (Tammy) , Bria and Shyla all of Dallas, TX .  She is also survived by four siblings Judy Kay Bowen (Oakley, CA), Arthur Bowen, Jr. (San Leandro, CA), Alfred Bowen (Oklahoma City, OK) and June Sheppard (Wylie, TX).  Eight grandchildren: Mariah Bailey , Taylor, Jada and Ch loe (Jerome), Jaylen, Jazlyn and Jaylah (Bria) , Brooklyn (Shyla). Her special C ousin/Niece Nichole Warren , her Niece s Annette Burton and Lakisha Smiley and her Cousin Warren Taylor who was always there for her. Also her Nephews Carl (Alfred), Brandon (Judy), Alfred Jr. (Alfred).  Her Uncles, Edward Clisson, Booker and Michael and her Aunts June and Mary, s pecial Aunt Sandra Whitaker, her great niece, Amyah Nicole (Annette) , h er lifelong fri e nds Vanessa, T h eresa, and Nodi , and a host of friends and family.

Above all and in all, Jane loved the Lord, and He has called her home to rest.

2 Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only but until all them also that love His appearing.


The Hour of Remembrance for Ms. Givens will commence on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 2:00 PM in The Antioch Church.  Dr. Marlon J. Coleman, the gracious host Pastor, will Preside.

Burial will follow the service in the Robinson Family Cemetery in Rentiesville, Oklahoma.
You may visit Ms. Givens on Friday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM in The Antioch Church of Muskogee.
