Mrs. Janice Elaine Holloway, 57 and a longtime resident of Okmulgee, "transitioned from Earth to Everlasting" on Saturday morning, March 19, 2011.
Janice was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on July 8, 1953, the daughter of Nannye Griffin-Talton and Troy Chester Huddleston. She grew up in Okmulgee, where she attended Okmulgee Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 1972. She furthered her education at Langston University, where she pursued a degree in Home Economics.
Janice was a life-long member of Osage Avenue Christian Church, where she accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She spent 55 of her 57 years there. She served the Lord on the Usher Board and also as the Youth Choir Director.
In the midst of life, Janice was blessed with a beautiful, baby girl and she was named De'Nandra Jenai [Deena]. Later in life, Janice accepted the hand in Marriage to William James Holloway and their loving union was blessed with another beautiful, baby girl, Sparkel Aundrea.
Janice was a loving and devoted grandmother to three, handsome grandson, Meo, Deaven and Dylan. Janice made the decision seven years ago, after the birth of her oldest grandson, that she would forfeit her career to take on the role of the " #1 GRANNY JANNY" as she was affectionately called by her grandsons.
She was met at Heaven's gate by the family members who left before her; her father, Troy Chester Huddleston; her twin brothers, Ronald and Randel Talton; her grandparents, Ella Griffin and Lawrence and Ellen Huddleston.
Those that wait on the Lord; her husband, William James Holloway, of the home in Okmulgee; her two daughters, De'Nandra J. Holloway and Sparkel A. holloway, both of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; a step-son, William L. Chappell, Tacoma, Washington; three grandson, Meo, Deaven and Dylan; four step-grandchildren, Anthony, Joslyn, Kiyara and Abriella; her loving mother and step-father, Nannye and Charles Talton; her beloved siblings, Deborah O'Guin, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Nathan Griffin, Charles Dewayne Talton and Collette Talton, all of Okmulgee, Ashley Huddleston, Oklahoma City, Della Higgs [Oscar III], Tarance Huddleston, all of Okmulgee, Troy Huddleston, Mickael Huddleston, Lawrence Huddleston, Gwendolyn Huddleston, Marie Huddleston, Karen Huddleston, and Anna Huddleston, all of Oklahoma City and Angela Huddleston, Tampa, Florida; also, a very special best friend, Glenda Mitchell of Okmulgee; along with a caravan of other relatives and friends.
The Celebratory Worship Service, commemorating her life's journey will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. in the most
Sacred Sanctuary of the Mount Zion Baptist Church. Reverend David Burks, is the gracious host Pastor, and Minister Oscar Higgs, III, Pastor of the Church of the Living God will Officiate.
The Christian Committal will follow the ceremony in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in Okmulgee.
