IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jannie L.
Jordan
November 14, 1947 – November 13, 2016
On November 14, 1947, Harrison Edwards and Alice Williams were blessed with a daughter in Wewoka, Oklahoma. She was named Jannie Lee. At an impressionable age, she accepted Christ into her life and was baptized at Pleasant Grove Baptist church.
Jannie attended grade school at Douglas in Wewoka, Oklahoma. and completed her secondary education at Douglas High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Jannie was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Vian, Oklahoma for a number of years. Then she later became a member of St. James Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas, where she worked diligently as an usher.
She became a member of The Order of Eastern Star (OES), after which she formed a chapter in Vian, Oklahoma named the Alice Williams Chapter No. 175. Later, when she moved to Wewoka, she became a member of OES District 6 in Oklahoma.
Jannie married Raymond Lee Jordan on June 27, 1970 in Hillsboro, Texas. They have been married for forty-six years. Their union was blessed with three children. Jannie and her family traveled and moved various places due to her husband coaching. They settled in Vian, where she worked for Vian Public Schools for twenty-six years, until her retirement in 2010. After her retirement, she and her husband moved to Wewoka to live out their golden years.
Jannie loved to act and clown around, always full of laughter. She loved family gatherings and was always about her family and her kids. She was a leader in her family, whom she loved to boss around. Jannie was always, always there when you needed her, never turning anyone away, but not without a lecture. She also was looked at and thought of as the "Best Cook" by her husband "Ray" and her boys, Booker, Jr. and Monty.
On Sunday afternoon, November 13, 2016, Jannie Lee Jordan, in her 68th year, "took flight with Angels, to thine place of rest" from Seminole, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Etienne Jordan, daughter-in-law Nevonia, sister Doris Graham and brother Bope Edwards.
