Obituary

Mr. Jeff Tate, in his 58th year, surrendered his soul to Jesus from Muskogee, Oklahoma.

On February 1, 1956, a baby boy was born from the union of Walter and Viola [Henry] Tate in Muskogee County, Oklahoma, near Taft. The 12th of 14 children in this unified family was named Jeff Baker Tate.

Jeff confessed his love of Christ at an early age and was baptized at Wilson Chapel Baptist Church. He loved playing in the band while attending Moton Public School. He graduated with the Class of 1974. It was while at Moton that he met his lifelong "Sweetheart and Companion," Martelia Ann Curry. Their union was blessed with two children.

Jeff worked various jobs throughout his life, but loved people, having fun and loved to make everyone smile. He always had something to say and loved to say "Who you with, Jeff Tate, hello world!"

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his son, Jeff Jr., and two brothers, Wesley and Dwight.

He leaves to forever cherish his memory; his loving wife of 40 years, Martelia Tate; his daughter, Trina Tate; his brothers, Walter Jr., Wallace Gene, Donald Ray, Cleo, Franklin, Allen, Richard and Aaron; his sisters, Erma Jean Lewis, Laura Walker, Harrien Hale, and Hazel Tate; along with a caravan of nieces, nephews, three special nephews, Mark, DeMario and Ke'Andre; two nieces, Daina Farr and Deborah Ragsdale Travis; two very special sisters-in-law that he helped to take care of, Ruth Newton and Miriam Ragsdale; cousins and friends. God has set you free.

The Hour of Remembrance for Mr. Tate will be on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the most Holy sanctuary of the Harvest Ministries. The Pastor, Pastor Lester Beasley, will give the Eulogy and Pastor Sedell Campbell, Pastor of New Balm Ministries will Officiate. Burial will follow in the Doyle Cemetery at Yahola, Oklahoma, west of Taft.
