On October 25, 1988, a bundle of energy and joy was born to Virginia Vann and the late Jimmy Dean Sallis. He was given the name Jermaine Deshon Vann. He was the fourth son born to this loving couple.
He was loved by everyone he came in contact with, especially his grandmothers, Genora Vann and Jessie Mae Sallis. He never met a stranger and loved his family. He was a caregiver when his loved ones needed him. This can be proved by the way he stuck by his late father's side as a loyal son and best friend. If you saw his parents, you saw "Phat". There was no greater love!
He was a loyal brother and loving uncle to his nieces and nephews; he treated them like his own. He loved family and wherever he saw you, he was going to make it his business to give you a hug and that beautiful, infectious smile! He had a love for music and loved to hang out with his cousins who were more like brothers and sisters to him. "Phatman's" love for his family was never questioned.
On June 23, 2015, "Phatman" slipped into eternal peace and joined his father/best friend, Jimmy Dean Sallis, maternal grandparents, Vinard and Genora Vann, paternal grandparents, Homer and Jessie Mae Salls, aunts Christine Vann and Evelyn Sallis Woods, uncles Willie Vann, Sr., Clyde Sallis, Billy Sallis, and John Henry Bryant, Sr., in eternal rest.
"Phatman" leaves to cherish his memory; his loving mother, Virginia Vann; his siblings, Jeremy Vann, Jermyn [Billie] Vann, Jerome Vann, Jimmy [Crystan] Smith, Latonya [Bryan] Colbert, LaSonya [Omar] Brown and Carl [Michelle] Sallis Woods; his aunts, Rosemary Marshall, Donna [Dennis] Jackson, Demetrice Vann, Linda Vann Lee, Elizabeth REagor, Ruby [Alvin] Cole, Elnora [Dave] Golden, Kathleen [Dooney] Johnson, Edna Bryant and Linda [Lloyd] West; uncles, Michael Vann, Leonard Vann, Alan Vann, Henry "Hank' Lee and James Woods; his nieces and nephews, Jordan, Elexis, Jermy Jr., Chendal, Jordan, Jimmy Jr., Dayshell, Christopher, Marcus Jr., Branshally [Raymond], Jewlies, Anthony, Jermyn Jr., Jervary, Dayahvion, Jermome Jr., and Bailee; a special friend, Stephenie Cheree Earp; and a host of cousins and friends.
The Final Hour with "Phat Man" will be shared on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. in the Four Mile Branch Baptist Church. Reverend Walter Brown, Jr., will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Four Mile Branch Cemetery.
