Obituary

Jerry Lee Grizzard was born on April 9, 1942 to Jesse and Eva Grizzard in Council Hill, Oklahoma.  Jerry attended Taft D.B.& O. School until its closing.  Jerry was very skilled at fixing things.  He never encountered a job that he couldn't conquer or figure out.  All his nephews and nieces can attest to that;  they didn't worry about their toys or bikes of any kind because they knew Uncle Jerry would fix it.  Jerry was an all around helper in the community, wherever he was needed.  He was always a happy and compassionate individual.

Jerry couldn't speak, however, he understood all kinds of signs from family, that he would say "oh well" and know exactly what they wanted.  He worked several different jobs and retired some years ago.

His favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, building and playing any type of game that challenged him. He attended Morning Star Baptist Church earlier in life, and was currently attended Park Plaza Church of Christ in Tulsa, Oklahoma, under the leadership of Brother Carl Moore.

Jerry Lee Grizzard, in his 74th year of life, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 23, 2016 from Midwest City, Oklahoma.  He was preceded in death by his father, mother, three brothers and two sisters.

He leaves to lament his passing and cherish his memory;  three sisters, Corrine Dukes, Pearlie Mae Heard, both of Muskogee and Shirley [Arnett] Richardson, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma;  special nieces and nephews, special friends from Tulsa, Muskogee and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma;  lifetime friends, John Irons, Addie Smith and Marshall Morgan;  two sisters-in-law, Helen Grizzard, Checotah, Oklahoma and Patricia Grizzard, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma;  along with a host of cousins and other relatives.

The Hour of Remembrance for Mr. Grizzard will commence on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 12 Noon in the First Freewill Baptist Church of Checotah.  Brother Carl Moore, Pastor of Park Plaza Church of Christ in Tulsa, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Warrior Cemetery, west of Checotah, Oklahoma.  You may visit Mr. Grizzard on Thursday from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the funeral home in Muskogee.
