Jewell L. Jackson was born ot William and Linnie Phillips Jackson on June 18, 1921 in McAlester, Oklahoma. She was the eldest of seven children. She graduated from Loverture High School in Mcalester.
After graduation, she attended Langston University, where she earned her first degree. She subsequently attended the University of Oklahoma and earned her degree in Social Work. While in Oklahoma, she worked at Tinker Air Force Base and then moved to Dallas, Texas, where she retired from the Department of Human Services.
While at Langston University, she became a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Alpha Zeta Chapter. She was also a devout member, Lector and Eucharist Minister of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Jewell cherished and loved her family, dearly. She was a loving sister and aunt, and helped to raise a host of nieces and nephews. She was a strong presence and great influence of the family.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her sister, Florence Godwin, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and a host of nieces, nephews, very special friends, Mildred Colbert and Mary Widdle.
