In Loving Memory of A Son, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle.
In Tishamingo, Oklahoma on January 29, 1957 a baby boy entered the world to the late Joseph Carter-Colbert and Leona Cooper. They named him Jim Dandy Carter. He was the joy his mother life. Jim's education began in Milburn Public Schools where he graduated in the year 1976. After graduation Jim had several Jobs he loved. He was a hard worker and was a very good provider for his family. Jim's final job was at Uniroyal Tires that he managed for several years until his health started to fail. Jim hated to give up working but had no choice.
Jim's past time was enjoying to fish, going to Wagoner High School football games to see Jimmy Jr. play. Which was a highlight of his life, he was very proud of his son. He also loved going thrift store shopping, going to Dallas to see his nieces Ashley Harris and her daughter Kylee, he also loved eating out and going to the movies. He was a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan and Oklahoma Sooners. Loved collecting eagles and blue old fashioned cars, his favorite color was blue.
Jim was the kindness person you could ever meet and would give you his last dollar and shirt off his back.
In 2005 Jim learned that he was going into kidney failure and was going to have to get on dialysis. He started in Muskogee, OK then later moved to Tulsa in 2007. He was supposed to go to FMC North but they had no room, so he went to FMC South where he fell in love with his soul mate and second wife Ms. Shontell Thomas. Everyone called it Dialysis Love and a Cinderella Story romance that lasted for twelve and half years. Shontell loved Jim to the moon and back and was there by his side through the good and bad.
On March 12, 2020 Thursday Morning at 7:40 am God saw Jim was getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arm around Jim and whispered "Come with Me." With tearful eyes we watched him labor and saw him fade away. Although we loved him dearly we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us he always takes the best.
He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Colbert and mother Leona Cooper-Huff, a sister Cynthia Colbert, his favorite cousin Ricky Henderson. Those left to cherish his memories: his love and wonderful wife of twelve and half years Shontell Carter, stepson Andrew Thomas, sister-in-law Angela (Willy) Wiggins, Brother-in-law Marcellus Wade II.
