It all began on May 22, 1958, when a baby boy was born to Homer and Jessie Sallis. His charming smile and unique personality was sure to brighten any room.
Jim accepted Christ at an early age. He was a lifelong resident of Fort Gibson, where he attended Fort Gibson grammar and high school.
On February 12, 2007, the Master sent the Angel of Peace to escort Jim to his Heavenly home. He was preceded in death by his father, Homer Sallis, his mother, Jessie Sallis and three brothers.
Remaining to cherish his memory; his devoted loved one, Virginia Vann; five sons, Jermaine Vann, Jermyn Vann, Jerome Vann, Jeremy Vann and Jimmy Sallis, Jr.; two daughters, LaSonya and LaTonya Sallis; ten grandchildren; a brother, William H. Sallis; seven sisters, Elnora & Dave Gold, Elizabeth Reagor, Ruby & Alvin Cole, Kathleen & Ary Johnson, Edna & John Bryant, Lina & Lloyd West and Evelyn & James Woods; three aunts, Essie M. Riddle, Bertha Sallis and Gracie Sallis; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends
The final hour will be on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. in the Four Mile Branch Baptist Church. Reverend Walter Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in the Four Mile Branch Cemetery.
