Mr. Jimmy Ray Thompson, in his 48th year, surrendered his soul on Saturday, January 19, 2019 from Muskogee, Oklahoma.

On February 28, 1970, Annie Mae Thompson was blessed with her firstborn son, Jimmy Ray Thompson. He was the oldest of five children. As a youngster, Jimmy was always known to be athletic, adventurous and autonomous.
He attended DuBois Elementary School and graduated from Muskogee High School. Due to his height and athletic ability, he was the first family member to attend college at Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro, Kentucky on a full scholarship.
After impairing struggles with dyslexia, Jimmy discontinued higher learning pursuits and relied on his other great talents and gifts, leading to careers as an auto mechanic, construction worker and general labor.
To his close family and friends, Jimmy can be described as a protector, a fighter, a needed handyman and a jokester. He was never known to back down from any challenge and could fix about anything and was a loyal friend to those who knew him. In addition, Himmy was always there to bring smiles and laughter with his jokes, dance moves or hilarious storytelling.
Despite the pressures and challenges of being the oldest child, Jimmy appeared to persevere despite the odds. Externally, Jimmy was viewed as a strong person, who was able to endure much pain and opposition. Internally, Jimmy struggled with self-forgiveness. He had a huge space in hes heart for his family and friends and that love will never be forgotten.
He leaves behind to lament his death; three children, Neon Mayfield, Chanler Edwardsen and Exavius Thompson, all of Muskogee, Oklahoma; three siblings, Hettie Fields, Muskogee, Phyllis Thompson, Lawton, Oklahoma and Davida Thompson, Phoenix, Arizona; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
