On May 6, 1937, near Morris, Oklahoma, Joe Lee Carter was born to Rosie and June Carter. He was the baby of ten children and attended McDaniel Public School in Morris.


He moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma in the early 1980's, where he met his beloved wife, Lee Edna Carter. They were united in marriage on February 1, 1991.


Joe was a loving individual who was always willing to help.


Joe was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday afternoon, November 2, 2008 from Muskogee Regional Medical Center. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Henryetta Napier, Claretha Jones and Betty Carter Cole, and also four brothers, Albert Green, John Henry Green, Clinton Carter and Isreal Carter.


Left to cherish his memory; his beloved wife, lee Edna Carter; his mother-in-law, Georgia Reynolds; two sons, mark Carter and Kenneth Reynolds; two daughters, Joe Levetta Carter and Tammy Drew; a special son-in-law, Gary Drew, Sr.; special friends, Joe and Shirley Whitelaw, Eddie Cooks, Gerard Gaston, Hanson Gardner and Clyde Jackson; along with a host of niences, nephews, cousins and friends.

You may visit Mr. Carter, as he slumbers in peaceful repose on Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM in the Chapel of Remembrance. The final hour will be on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. Reverend Walter Brown will officiate. Cremation will follow.
