Joe Mandy Jordan was Born on Tuesday June 20, 1922, the fourth child to Joe E. Jordan and Lizzie B. Williams, in Bryant Oklahoma. Joe Mandy attended Attucks Elementary School in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She left school at an early age to begin her working career to help support her family. Joe Mandy worked on the local farms and helped raise her younger brothers, allowing her parents to work full time jobs to provide for her and her brothers and sister.
Joe Mandy met and married Charlie O. Wilson for a short while. She later met Clyde Rentie and they had five children, Clyde Rentie (Barbara) of Fort Worth, Texas, Freddie Rentie (Vertula) of Tulsa Oklahoma, Alford Rentie of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Theodore Rentie (Dandra) of Norman, Oklahoma and one daughter, Sade who preceded her in death, and one Step-daughter Wilma Carruthers of Kansas City Missouri.
Joe Mandy dedicated her life to the Lord at an early age and was a member of the Evening Light Saints of God. She ensured her children were raised to love the Lord and she lead by example, Jo Mandy work for many years helping prepare meals for the Okmulgee congregation Revival Meetings. She also opened up her home to the Saints that came in from afar and ensured they had a place to sleep and a good meal to eat. She also helped with the Church's Vacation Bible School during the summers.
Jo Mandy also loved her family, she enjoyed babysitting for her brothers and taking her nieces and nephews to church. On many occasions you could find her attending a local Revival meeting with her family enjoying listening to her son and niece sing songs together. She would often request for them to sing songs she enjoyed hearing so she could sing along with them. Her passion for serving the Lord could be heard in her prayers which were so powerful and uplifting, she was often called upon for prayers when her love ones were sick.
After raising her children, she got involved with working in her community by becoming a "Certified Home Health Provider" through the Red Cross Home Nursing Program. Over the years she provided tender loving care to many elderly sick members in her community. Her warm and caring attitude provided a loving friendship for the many people she cared for.
Jo Mandy was a blessing to all she came into contact with and her companionship will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Father, Joe Jordan and loving Mother, Sister Lizzie B. Jordan, Husband, John Henry Jefferson, brothers George, Henry, Charles, Nathaniel and Alonzo Jordan.
In addition to her children, She leaves to cherish her memory sister Ada Miller Fresno, Ca, two brothers Willie B. Jordan (Darlene) Tulsa Ok, Joshua Jordan (Ella) Lathrop, Ca. Four sons, 17 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews ,grand, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Honoring her wishes, her life will be remembered during a Graveside Ceremony to commence on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 1:00 P.M., in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Brother Charles Lowe, Pastor of Evening Light Saints Church of God, will officiate.
Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
The funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Saturday at 12:40 PM to arrive at the cemetery for the 1:00 PM service.
