Obituary

John Preston Anderson, Jr., was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on October 8, 1943. He was the second of two sons born to John P. and Lucille [Goudeau] Anderson. He was christened as a baby and dedicated his life to the Lord early and joined the Uganda Martyr's Catholic Church.


He spent a great deal of his early childhood years with his maternal grandmother, Geneva Goudeau. He often visited his paternal grandparents, Walter and Grace Anderson at their nearby farm in Oklahoma.


John attended Banneker Elementary School in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. After moving to Detroit with his father, John Sr., and his older brother, Ronald, John attended Cleveland Middle School and graduated fro Pershing High School.


John was employed at Chrysler Motor Corporation for 30 years. He retired to devoted his time to care for his father, whose health began to fail.


He attended St. Theresa Catholic Church and was a faithful member of UAW 961. He was very dilligent about attending monthly meetings and supporting his union brothers and sisters.


"Baby John", as he was affectionately called by many of his relatives and friends, loved people. He exhibited the Christian gift of "help" in his treatment of those he kenw. He never refused to help anyone who asked.

John went home to be with the Lord on March 28, 2008 from the Botsford Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father, John Sr., and his brother, Ronald.


He leaves to cherish his memory; a loving mother, Lucille Hardeman, Okmulgee, Oklahoma; a devoted companion, Elizabeth Washington; two sons, Brian [Candace] Jones and Darryl [Mariah] Anderson, all of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Rhonda Daniels, Buda, Texas; a sister, Wylma Anderson, Detroit, Michigan; two uncles, Walter [Wyvette] Anderson and Teddie Allen, Sr.; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; along with a caravan of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.


The tribute will be on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at 2 P.M. in the Chapel of Peace.

Burial will follow in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.
