Obituary

On a beautiful fall day, John Douglas Breedlove Jr. was born the oldest son to John and Mildred Breedlove Sr. on October 9, 1943 in Muskogee, OK.

As a young man, he attended Manual Training High School and graduated with the class of 1962. After graduation he went to Spartan School of Aeronautics, where he received an Electrical Engineer certificate.

He later traveled the world in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from
1965-1969. While on leave, he married his sweetheart, Gwendolyn Triggs in 1967, during their marriage two children were born. He was a loyal husband and father who utilized his military discipline with his
family.

As a civilian he entered the workforce at Acme Engineering and
Manufacturing Corp for a few years. He began employment with the VA
Medical Hospital in the maintenance department. It was also at this
time he attended Northeastern State University, studied business and
his love for the military led him to join the local Army Reserve. He
remained at the VA Hospital for over 30 years a Supply Tech, while
receiving several performance awards for his commitment and dedication
until his retirement in 2008.

John enjoyed life to the fullest and never met a stranger. He had a
great love for dogs and had a strong desire to become a veterinarian.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Shirley Burkhalter, son
Kevin Johnson and a very special friend Helen Titsworth.

Celebrating his memories are his wife Gwen Breedlove; two sons Antoin
Jackson, Phoenix, AZ; Raymond Shawn Breedlove, Muskogee; one daughter
Shonika Breedlove, Muskogee; three brothers Donald Breedlove, Roger
Breedlove both of Minneapolis, MN; Gerald Breedlove, Muskogee; an aunt
Barbara Jones, Kansas City, MO; a God son Steven Titsworth and God
daughter Tarsha Titsworth, as well his grandchildren that were dear to
his heart.

The Tribute will be on Monday, Dec. 7, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in the St.
Mark Baptist Church. The Pastor, Rev. Ray Pickett, will officiate.
Burial will follow, with Military Honors in the National Cemetery at
Ft. Gibson at 1:00 P.M.

You may visit Mr. Breedlove, as he slumbers in peaceful repose at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 PM to 5 PM. Viewing on Monday will be prior to the service, only.
