Born September 21, 1960, John Wesley Combs departed from this world on November 6, 2021. He was 61 years old.

John was a man of achievement. He was the National Manager-Air Traffic Procedures at Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). He is the first African-American to receive the Presidential Award.

Although John came from humble beginnings in West Tulsa, John graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The U.S. Air Force Veteran went on to become a prominent force within the FAA. A brother, a lover, a father and a friend, John remained committed to creating equal opportunities for African Americans within his personal communities and in his professional community.

John is survived by four wonderful daughters: Mindy Louise Brown 41, Amber Heeter 37, LaTrina Cainion 37, and Nikki Combs 34.

He leaves seven grandchildren: Asia Calvin 23, Desteny Lyons 18, Darian Brown 12, Classic Brown 7, Julian Brown 5, Jada Brown 3, and Dominic Colson, age 1.

Preceded in death by his parents, John leaves six siblings: Deronda Lewis 63, Karen Cherry 62, Paul Combs 59, Yolunda Combs 54, Mark Combs 53, and LaSharyn Combs 49.

Services for Mr. John Wesley Combs will take place on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the 36th Street North Event Center in Tulsa.

You may visit Mr. Combs, as he slumbers in peaceful repose on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the funeral home in Tulsa.

Burial will take place on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
