Obituary

Retired Chief Master Sergeant John Wiley Cosby, in his 81st year of life, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Retired Chief Cosby was born in Somerville, Tennessee on September, 9, 1942.  He was the oldest of five children in the family;  C. J., Mary Ann, Raymond and Clarice all preceded him in death.

He was the father of seven children.  A set of twin boys and Kevin Chapman also preceded him in death.

Retired Chief Cosby enjoyed life and was a member of Boulevard Christian Church.  He loved to listen to music, ride motor cycles and bowling.  He loved his family and will be missed by those who loved him.

Retired Chief Cosby served his Country Honorably in the United States Air Force for over 20 years.  He was also employed as a former VSC Decision Review Officer for the Appeals Team at the Veteran's Administration Regional Office in Muskogee.

He is also preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Annie Sue [Eddings] Haliburton, and his dear wife, Marilyn Morallas Cosby.

He leaves to lament his passing;  his children, Suzelle [Harry, Jr.] Coward, Lake Charles, Louisiana, Toni Hakim, Ft. Washington, Maryland, Shawn Cosby, Hayes, Virginia and Marvin Cosby, Tampa, Florida;  seven grandchildren, Harry James Paul, Na"Feeah Grace Cosby, Devin Hunter, Anika Alcindor, Shawna Cosby and Sidney Cosby; great-grandchildren; Aunt Ida; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and many, many friendships developed over the years around the world.

The Hour of Remembrance for Retired Chief Master Sgt. John W. Cosby will commence on Monday morning, June 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the most holy sanctuary of the Boulevard Christian Church.

Burial will follow the ceremony, with Military Honors by the Tinker Air Force Honor Guard in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery.

You may visit Retired Chief Master Sgt. John W. Cosby, as he slumbers in peaceful repose at the funeral home on Sunday, June 9, 2024 between the hours of 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
