"With Reflection, and Remembrance…"
John Andrew Davis was born to the union of Reverend William Samuel Davis and Maggie Mae Davis on June 2, 1950 in Nowata, Oklahoma. He would ultimately become a part of eight siblings. Five have preceded him in death. They are James Edward Davis, Venus Mae Rochelle, Martha Delois Watkins, Jeanette Ann Davis, and an unnamed infant at birth. The two remaining siblings are Carolyn Waugh (Tulsa, Oklahoma) and Dr. Mark Davis (University City, Missouri).
John's early years and educational experiences were spent in southern Arkansas (Magnolia and Waldo public schools). However, later he would graduate from Manuel Training High School in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Other wonderful experiences during his lifetime included receiving a Hero's Citation for duty as a part of the Muskogee Fire Department.
John married several times over the course of his life and leaves to cherish his memory children from various unions. One son preceded him in death, Ronnie Cornell Davis. His children include: Kimberly Rochelle (Chette), Veal and Julia Ann (Darren) Davis, Houston, TX., Kimberly Rene White, and Shelia Diane White, Tulsa, OK., Jonathan Davis, Greg LaRon Davis, and Sheretta Jeanette White, Muskogee, OK., his grandchildren: Kayla McBride, Arrianna Davis, Andrew-Vincent LaRon Davis, Shuntae Smith, Houston, TX., Braylon White, Tavian White, Tulsa, OK., DeVontay White, MyUnique Jolley, and Marquis Jolley, Muskogee, OK., along with a host of other friends and relatives.
Jesus reminded us in John 14:2 of the wisdom of God concerning all of His creations. "In my Father's house there are many mansions…" It a reminder that all of us, as believers, have our own special place/position in God's kingdom…creatively different, yet collectively a part of the whole. Surely, John enjoyed living his life in his own way, yet never out of the watchful eye of the one who created him. Therefore, today we say farewell to our loving brother, father, and friend, yet bye and bye we'll see each other again! God bless each of you!!
A Memorial Ceremony for Mr. Davis will be on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. in the Vernon African Methodist Episcopal Church. Pastor M.K.T. Moulden will Preside.
