Obituary

Mr. John F. "Red" Perry, age 49 and a resident of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2013 in Perry, Oklahoma.

The journey begins on November 22, 1963, a beautiful red head baby boy was born to Joann Perry and Charles Selmon, and they named him John Fitzgerald Perry.
At an impressionable age, John attended Mt. Zion Church of God and Christ and was led to Christ and accepted him as his Lord and Savior. He was baptized as a teenager at First Baptist Church, Central. He rededicated his life to the Lord this year.
John attended Okmulgee Public Schools and discovered he had a talent and a love for the sport of wrestling. He graduated with the Senior Class of 1982. After graduation John enlisted in the Army National Guard.
Also referred to as "Red," John was a loving father and uncle. He was known by all as being loyal to family and friends and would do any and everything to provide for his family. John's favorite quotes were, "If you get a blessing, you give a blessing" and "Hey, let me holla at ya."
John was preceded in death by two sisters, Latonia McCargo and LaDonna Williams.
John leaves to cherish his memory, his parents: Charles Selmon and Joann Mangum, his life partner, Carolyn Lawson, 3 children: Javohn Perry-Taylor, John Perry Jr. and Alyssa Perry, 4 step children: William Crawford, Melissa Crawford, Timothy Crawford and Ashtin Holden; 6 sisters: Debra Lewis, Vivian Reason, Texanna James, Michelle McCargo, Charlotte Selmon, and Saundra McCargo; three brothers: Stanley Reason, Stevie Perry (Donna), and Aaron Perry (Angie); one godbrother, Reginald Sutton, one godsister, Juanita Powell; one aunt: Mary Reason; 2 uncles: Frank Barnett and Joseph Reason (Kay); three grandchildren: JaMar Taylor, Mariana Taylor and Marvea Taylor; eight step grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, cousins and friends.

Services will be Saturday August 17, 2013 at 10AM at St. Matthew Baptist Church in Okmulgee.

Friends may visit "Red" as he rests in Okmulgee on Friday from 12Noon until 6PM.
