Obituary

On August 22, 1952, a bouncing baby boy was born to John Lee Adams, Sr., and Lillie Mae Adams and they named him John Lee Adams, Jr. He was the oldest of three children.

He accepted Christ at an early age and received the Lord as his Savior, uniting with Saint Mark Baptist Church under Reverend T. Hickerson. John received his formal education in the Muskogee Public School system, attending Douglas Elementary, Sadler Junior High and Manual Training High School. Upon leaving high school, he married his high school sweetheart, Karen Johnson and to this union, one child was born. This marriage was dissolved. Later in life, he married the love of his life, Doris Jean Maxwell and to this union, they were blessed with two children, a daughter and a son.

John was employed with Murray's Nissan for numerous years. After leaving Murray's, he was employed with UNARCO in Wagoner, Oklahoma, until his health began to fail. Better known as "Big John" to family and friends, he was a very lovable person. He enjoyed to hunt, fish, ride motorcycles and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.

On Monday, January 30, 2006, John fell into a peaceful rest after losing a battle with illness that he fought with for several years. There is no more pain, no more suffering, just rest for him. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, three sons, John Lee Adams, III, Brandon J. Adams and John Wesley Smith.
