Seasons in the Life Of John Chauncey Wallace
Spring in the life of John Chauncey Wallace began on December 23, 1962 in Kansas City, Missouri. A healthy, bright-eyed baby boy was gifted to parents Johnny Lee and Erma Jeane Wallace. He rounded out the child foursome of oldest sister, Valerie; big brother, Victor; and older sister, Tracy. He flourished from his earliest days and became known as "Chauncey." His dad affectionately called him "Chico." As he blossomed into life, he developed a sense of awe and reverence for the things of God.
Chauncey received his formal education by attending schools in Kansas City, MO; Sapulpa, OK; Norman, OK; and Tulsa, OK where he graduated from Will Rogers High School. As a youth, Chauncey was athletic and grew up loving sports. He ran track, played basketball and baseball in junior high school. After his older sister Tracy taught him to swim, he spent countless hours at the pool.
Upon entry into the summer season of his life, Chauncey began his employment years. He had developed old-fashioned values and believed a man should make his own way in life and thus moved out and became independent. He was imbued with values of dependability, honesty, trustworthiness, frankness, punctuality and kindness. He enjoyed working out and being physically fit. He loved his mother's cooking and had a standing birthday order for his very own pot beef stew. He also liked tinkering with cars with his friend, Ed Carr. They spent hours looking for & installing car parts.
In the summer and fall seasons of Chauncey's life, he and his Uncle Earnest Tiger would attend Bible study together at Kirk of the Hills Church. Later, Chauncey made Victory Christian Center his church home where he faithfully attended until a change in his work schedule created a conflict.
In the fall season of his life, one could often find Chauncey huddled around a TV watching his favorite football team - the Pittsburg Steelers! When opportunities were ripe, he traveled to support his team. Chauncey loved his family. For many years he and oldest sister, Valerie had an annual brother-sister shopping & lunch day. He had a helpful and generous spirit and would run errands, grocery shop, do chores and assist where needed. He would sometime call, just to check-in to make sure everyone was okay.
Chauncey's work career spanned a 40-year period and included employment stints at Liberty Glass Company, UPS, Spartan School of Aeronautics, and River Spirit Casino. He was employed by River Spirit Casino for 13 years until the time of his transition.
The winter season in Chauncey's life delivered a blizzard of utmost proportion on January 8, 2021 when Chauncey's spirit (breath) returned to God who gave it. The details of this blizzard are unknown to man but will be revealed at the Great Resurrection.
Chauncey was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Lee; his mother, Erma Jeane; paternal uncle, Earnest Wallace and aunt, LaDora Wallace; maternal uncles, Arthell, Horace, Donald and Tyrone Tiger.
He leaves to cherish fond memories: sisters, Valerie (Lonnie) Jackson and Tracy Wallace; brother, Victor Richardson; great uncle, Tom Thomas; great aunt, Amanda Tompkins; maternal uncle, Earnest Tiger; maternal aunt, Wilma Tiger; paternal aunt, Margaret Wallace; nieces, Tanisha Jones, Essence Barnes, Enjoli Pannell, Stacy Willis and Marysa Richardson; nephews, Jeremiah (Beth) Richardson and Simon Richardson; eight great nephews; four great nieces; and a host of relatives and friends.
