Johnny Lee Richardson, better known to family and friends as "Tootie" was born on June 21, 1946 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma from the union of Donnell and Marie Richardson.
He attended Dunbar High School, graduating with the Class of 1964. After graduation from Dunbar, Johnny was drafted by the United States Army, where he served his country honorably.
Johnny continued his education on a GI Bill that was provided by the Army. He attended Northeastern State University, where he earned his Masters of Education degree. He also attended HBCU Langston University in Oklahoma, where he earned his bachelors degree in Arts and Education. While at Langston, he met the love of his life, Loletha Goudeau and they completed their studies together.
Johnny married Loletha and moved his family to Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Johnny taught history for Sapulpa High School and also was the football and track coach. Teaching and coaching was his passion. Johnny expressed how important education was to his children, nieces and hephews. Johnny also taught and coached in Marshall, Texas, winning state championships twice in football and track. He also won state at D. W. Carter High School in Dallas, Texas in Track and Football. After all of his achievements and dedication, Johnny was inducted into the Coaches Hall of Fame.
In his 74th year, Johnny Lee Richardson dozed into the tranquil peace of eternal slumber on Thursday afternoon, June 17, 2021 from his home in Sapulpa, with his loving family near his side. He was preded in death by his parents, Donnell and Marie RIchardson; an infant son, Johnny, and his sister, Marie Alice Richardson.Johnny leaves to cherish his memory; a loving wife, Loletha Richardson; his children, Eric [Kato] Richardson and wife Kacy Starks, Faleshia Riley and husband Cedrick; six grandchildren, Zane Williams, Steffon Williams, Porsha Riley, Alexis Riley, Brandon Billingsley and Arreon Billingsley; his great-grandchildren, Randy Stanley, Landon, Zelia, Reyna Billingsley, Layla, Kylah, Kaden Johnson and Madden, Easton Williams and Miles Williams; along with other relatives and friends.
A time to reflect on Mr. Richardson's life will commence on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace in the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Okmulgee. Pastor Charles Williams will officiate.
You may visit Mr. Richardson, as he slumbers in peaceful repose at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM in Okmulgee.
