Obituary

Johnny Lee Staggers was born on June 12, 1947, in Buchanan, Michigan, to Mr. and Mrs. Lavelle and Lula Mae Foster Staggers. Johnny graduated from Dunbar School, and shortly after graduation he joined the United States Army. Johnny was relocated back home near family and friends, where he attended the tech school and graduated.

Having taken up upholstery still in his twilight years, he met a guy named Howard, known as "Speedy." Speedy introduced Johnny to Zenobia, and she became his wife for 45 years. He always wanted a loving big family, and they had seven kids: four girls, Tonya, Sheila, Barbarbra, and Mose; and three sons, Maurice, Lyndon, and Elliot.

After doing upholstery, he started working for Rural Electric. He loved spending time with family and friends, shooting pool, cleaning cars, fishing, and making sure everyone was cool by maintaining the air conditioning. Family members who preceded him in death were parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lavell and Lula Mae Foster Staggers; and siblings, Lavell Jr., Leon, and Bill.

Those remaining to cherish his memories are: his wife, Mrs. Zenobia Staggers; daughters, Tonya, Shelia, Barbarbra, and Mose; sons, Maurice, Lyndon, and Elliot; sisters, Betsy Gilstrap and Kathy (Robert) Henry; brothers-in-law, Robert Henry, Howard Anderson, Terry Howard, Sr., and Melvin Johnson; sister-in-law, Mary Johnson; several grandkids; and a host of great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mr. Johnny Lee Staggers, after 75 years, made his way to eternal rest on Saturday, July 2, 2022 from Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The Hour of Remembrance for Mr. Staggers will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 2:30 PM in the Greater Jones Chapel AME Zion Church.  The Pastor, Reverend Terry Howard, Sr., will officiate.
