Mrs. Johnsie Mae Robinson, in her 62nd year, dozed from life to everlasting on Saturday, September 26, 2009.
Life began for Sister Johnsie in Laurinburg, North Carolina, where she was born and grew up. Later in life, she lived in New York. She used to be a Go-Go girl; she liked to dance. Sister Johnsie met a gentleman, Arthur Robinson, who happened to be a preacher. They fell in love and were married. Their loved blossomed more after she was saved under Pastor Robinson's leadership.
Their union was blessed with three children, and Sister Robinson "switched dancing partners-dancing only for the Lord", which was one of her quotes in life.
She was a long-time member of Wilson Chapel Holy Bible Church in Laurenburg. Pastor Robinson preceded her in death in 1993.
Sister Robinson was a Prayer Warrior, she was very organized and liked a clean home. She showed amazing independence despite her physical limitations. Mother Robinson lost her sight in 1999, was a double amputee and endured dialysis. Still, she was a devout Christian, whose favorite color was white; "it was Angelic and it represented purity" she would state. Mother Robinson presented herself as a living sacrifice unto God.
Since moving to Muskogee, Mother Robinson was an active member of Old Agency Baptist Church. She was the mother of the church and counseled people on issues of faith and spiritual matters. She had a lifelong committment to education and always encouraged others.
She leaves to continue her legacy; three children, Arthur Robinson, Larena Robinson and Jerry Robinson; along with other relatives, church family and friends who will cherish her beautiful memory.
The final farewell for Mrs. Robinson will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. in the Old Agency Baptist Church. The Pastor, Rev. Aundrea H. Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery.
You may visit Mrs. Robinson, as she slumbers in sweet repose at the funeral home on Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM.
